The concentration camp in Auschwitz was established by German Nazis on the outskirts of the town Oswiecim in 1940. After the war, the camp was turned into museum displaying evidence of the genocide. Block no. 11, known as the Death Block, was where people were murdered also at the “Wall of Death”. Outside the camp, there is a gas chamber, where 70,000 people were killed in 1940-1943. A film made after the liberation of the camp is shown in various language version in the museum. In 1941, 3 kilometres from Oswiecim, in the former village of Brzezinka, the German Nazis established a new camp called Auschwitz II Birkenau. In 1942-1945, approx. 1.5 million people lived and died here. Most of them (90%) were Jews, others were Poles, Gypsies, Russians and prisoners from 28 countries of Europe, people of all nationalities and political and religious persuasions. Since 1944, transports of prisoners from all over the continent entered directly through the “Gate of Death”. In 1979, Auschwitz – Birkenau Concentration Camp was listed a UNESCO World Culture and National Heritage Site.

"Thank you for the well organized and interesting trip we made from Warsaw to Krakow and further to the Auschwitz Museum last Friday. Excellent service and expertise from both the driver and Joanna who was our guide in Krakow. And naturally the visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum was something we'll never forget. If someone here in Finland plans something like this, we will be pleased to recommend your services."
"Just wanted to say a big thank you for an outstanding day of touring starting with our hotel pick-up at 5:20am and being escorted to the train station for our ride to Krakow. The driver was very pleasant and professional and made us feel cared for both as we departed for Krakow and arrived back in Warsaw. Great job. Arriving in Krakow we were met by Rafal who drove us to Auschwitz. He spoke excellent English and was very professional in driving and courteous towards us and our many questions. His instructions were clear upon our arrival at Auschwitz and he was ready to pick us up after the tour of Birkenu. He even accomodated our request to stop along the way back to Krakow for a soft drink and snack. At the Shindler Factory, Johanna took over. She was one of the best guides I ever had in all my years of touring...clearly spoken English, knowledgeable and personable. She was a delight throughout the tour of the factory, Krakow city sights and escorting us to a small cafe for dinner before taking us to the train station and making sure we got on the right train. Everything was as described in your e-mail notes to me and I am very impressed with Warsaw Adventure Tours. I would gladly use the services of your company on my next tour to Poland and highly recommend you. Very grateful for your professional handling of this request. Yours truly, Barry"
