Crimean Karaites exhibition (May 23, 2011)


Till the end of June we will have an opportunity to see the old pictures of Crimean Karaites on 20th  Karowa Street. Exhibition presents photos not only from Poland, but also from other crimean karaites home-archives from France and Latvia.

Guardians of the exhibition, Anna Sulimowicz and Mariola Abkowicz from Crimean Caraites Polish Union, have built several stories which are illustrating histories of particular people and families and also a usual life of these societies in postwar times in Poland, from the second part of XIX century until 60' in XX century.
Crimean Caraites are the smallest ethnic minority living in Poland. They come from Crimea and their language belongs to the turkish family of languages. Through the exibition authors wants to show us old Crimean Caraites, their world and history. Old world which have passed.
