On Saturday, June 24th 2017 Podzamcze is going to shine with true stars. The artists of this year’s edition of Wreath Day includes the icon of electronic music – Dj Afrojack. His performance on the biggest and the most popular outdoor party in Warsaw might be quite a treat for the guests doming to the concert.
A starry midsummer night
According to Andrzej Matusiak, the manager of the Capital City’s Bandstand, „Warsaw keeps changing every year. It is a modern and dynamic city, which still takes good care of its tradition. Wreath day happens to be a special event, which reminds the guests of various traditions, ancient ways of having fun and spending the free time. The diversity of the Wreath Day program is an advantage that keeps bringing a very numerous crowd to the place. It’s the place where the people of Warsaw come to integrate and spęd their time together in the urban area near the Old Town and the Vistula river. The colorful midsummer night’s picnic, numerous stimulating activities on the Vistula river, the evening concert with big stars, and the finale firework show are just a few of the events that have a strong influence on many senses. We are getting ready for a huge opening of the summertime in Warsaw, according to the tradition and the expectations of the citizens.”
During the magical midsummer night Podzamcze will really shine with musical stars. This special evening will be even more amazing thanks to the performance of Dj Afrojack, one of the most innovative and constantly demanded artist of the worldwide format, the Grammy award winning producer, songwriter and DJ.
The Wreath Day party would not be complete without the local musicians. The big stage performances will include the recent „Hip-hop album of the year” Fryderyk award winner O.S.T.R., the Warsaw duet Xxanaxx, known for recording electronic music, and for the reggae climate there will also be the unbeatable band Vavamuffin. The audiencje will also have a chance to hear the performance of the T-love band, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. Plus, it might your very last chance to hear the band’s live performance, because according to the information from Muniek Staszczyk, the band will be retiring in 2018.
A day full of fun, magic, dancing and folklore
The midsummer night’s celebrations will begin in the early afternoon with workshops on holding small wreaths, big wreaths and and the biggest one – the Warsaw Midsummer Night’s Wreath, which is planned to reach about 5 meters in diameter and will be alighted on Vistula in the evening to begin the midsummer night’s pageant down the river.
At The Historic Craftsmanship market, by the accompaniment of the music from a folk band, we will get a chance to remind oueselves of old jobs, take a look at the handicraft and meet the local jugglers. And the fortunetellers from the Fortune Alley will tell u show to find the desired Fern Flower.
In the Vistula picnic town filled with delightful attractions you can clearly feel the mood of the old Warsaw, full of unique folklore of the capital city. You should definitely visit the kercelak – a prewar-styled bazar, where you can meet the clever guy, play a game of
three cards, try bargaining with a local tradeswoman, visit the bootblack, who will your shoes shiny and clean, and finally get escorted by a handsome young man to the wooden danceflor and bust a move.
In the harbor by the Karski Bulwar there will be plenty water-themed attractions designed to celebrate the Year of the Vistula River, including: ferry rides, hamburk-styled rowboat races, waterski and wakeboard demonstrations.
At midnight the Vistula sky wil be illuminated by a firework show, which has already become a Wreath Day tradition. For the show’s climax the guests will see a special sign created for this occasion: „I <3 Warsaw”.
