Inevitable changes in social behavior over the past 20 years have created in artist Dorota Dawidowicz a need to locate in present the past images from her childhood. On her photos, the author is trying to capture the feelings and emotions associated with that times (80's and 90's).
The results are not only beautiful artistic portraits, but also documents- in addition to photos it can be intriguing to see Dawidowicz's notes of ways of spending leisure time fading over the years. None of the persons from the photos have any special makeup or have been specially dressed or stylized. The artist looks into the memories, images from childhood. She replays them and experiences again. She is looking for what is now only a vague notion. Irreversible experiences, places, people, emotions.
The theme of works of Dorota Dawidowicz are people - their beauty, emotions, surroundings. In her photographic journeys she combines creation with document. Her works are a set of photographs with unusual climate, made using a noble XIX- century technique of wet collodion process.
The exhibition is on display in Skwer Gallery, Krakowskie Przedmiescie 60a. Open until February 9.
